JOHANNESBURG - Steel construction company SA MegaStructures is in the spotlight.

Several of its clients are questioning whether the business is nothing more than a scam.

Jaq Steyn is just one of many customers who lost over R100,000 paying for what he thought was a steal of a deal.

Unsurprisingly, many customers are threatening to go the legal route to get their money back.

The company has presented a defiant front to clients.

Responding to questions through an attorney, the company said Steyn's case is being litigated.

The director says the company hasn't failed to meet its financial demands and that where a project cannot be remediated, cancellations and refunds are possible.

A former sales agent who worked at SA MegaStructures said he left because the business continually takes customers' deposits without actually building anything.

Based on the sheer volume of complaints on various platforms, this is likely just the tip of the iceberg.
