Steenhuisen says he will continue to serve the Democratic Alliance, after party leader Mmusi Maimane's resignation.
JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance Member of Parliament, John Steenhuisen, is no longer the party's Chief Whip.
He's emphasised that he has not resigned from the party, but remains "a committed and determined member of the party and cause".
Steenhuisen's move from his position follows DA leader Mmusi Maimane's resignation as DA leader on Wednesday and further resignation from the party and parliament on Thursday.
He said he would continue to work with the DA to build a strong alternative to the ANC.
"I disagree with Mr Maimane that the DA is not the vehicle for change. I believe it is the only viable vehicle for change in South Africa."
