CAPE TOWN - The South African Students Congress (Sasco) in the Western Cape says Stellenbosch University student Babalo Ndwayana has asked to take a break from campus and his studies as he's traumatised.
Ndwayana laid three charges of racism, housebreaking and malicious damage to property against the student who urinated on his study desk.
Footage of the student urinating has gone viral and there are calls for his expulsion.
Sasco WC convener Sifiso Zungu said: "Outside everything he is just a young person, a first-year student, we deeply understand his shock.
"We are happy with how the university still responding making sure he is getting attention and assistance ... he wants to take a break and at least go home. We did try to communicate with the university the response was positive. We are happy with everything."
