ANCYL: Stellenbosch University must stand up against racism

CAPE TOWN - The ANC Youth League says Stellenbosch University needs to stand with its students and condemn any acts of racism.

Babalo Ndwayana laid a criminal charge against a student who urinated on his study desk.

The incident was caught on video and caused widespread outrage.

ANCYL member Luzuko Bashman said: "The university should first worry about the rights of the students it should first be promoting a non-racial society, it should be condemning the brutal acts of this individual.... we should be uniting... the protests are shining a message in society that racism, violating people rights have no place in the South Africa we are building that's what the university should be far [more] worried about."
