Disaster management teams in KwaZulu-Natal are on standby as heavy storms continue in the province.
DURBAN - Disaster management teams in KwaZulu-Natal are on standby as heavy storms continue to lash the province.
Authorities are concerned this could result in flooding in some parts of the province.
The South African Weather Services issued a warning, saying heavy rain could lead to localised flooding in the Ugu and eThekwini municipalities.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Sipho Hlomuka said four people were struck and killed by lightning.
"We've placed the disaster management team on high alert following the warning received by the weather services," said Hlomuka.
"We want to ensure the people of KwaZulu-Natal that the disaster management teams are on standby and they will be monitoring the situation."
