Students vow to continue with protests

JOHANNESBURG - It's unclear if classes will go ahead on Monday at universities affected by protests.

Students are vowing to continue protesting after what they say was an unsuccessful weekend meeting with the Higher Education minister.

Student representatives met Naledi Pandor and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme on Saturday.

The aim was to iron out their concerns so institutions could reopen on Monday.

Lectures were suspended on campuses in KwaZulu-Natal as a result of protests, and there was a student hunger strike at Wits University.

But it seems there are still many issues to be dealt with.
