JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla says stakeholders are in discussions on whether or not to make vaccinations mandatory.

He says it is a suggestion the government is looking at.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic is not sparing young people in the Northern Cape and Western Cape.

Phaahla says there has been an increase in those between 10 and 19-years old, contracting COVID-19 in the two provinces.

This is believed to be a result of schools reopening and social activities.

Phaahla added that the third wave has been unpredictable.

He says, however, that Gauteng has been showing a decrease in infections.
