JOHANNESBURG - A teacher from a high school in Alexandra has been arrested after an investigation implicating six officials in a cash-for-post scandal.

The Gauteng Department of Education says the investigation was triggered by an anonymous tip-off regarding an alleged cash in exchange for posts corruption.

The department's spokesperson Steve Mabona said an investigator was sent to the school.

"The educator offered to bribe the investigator. He interacted with the police and a trap was conducted," said Mabona.

The educator then offered the investigator R10,000 to drop the case.
