POLOKWANE - The Limpopo school girl accused of assaulting fellow pupil Lufuno Mavhunga is expected to make her first appearance in court.
The incident happened at Mbilwi Secondary School and was captured on video and went viral on social media.
It’s believed the incident might have led to Mavhunga committing suicide.
In the video, the suspect can be seen repeatedly slapping the victim.
Mavhunga was later found dead by her mother, after an apparent overdose.
According to preliminary findings by the South African Human Rights Commission, the school principal failed to take appropriate action when her family alerted him to the incident.
