A dire warning on tourism is being sounded this Friday. The SA Tourism Services Association says government must discard its high-risk -or red- list of COVID-19 hotspot countries. It says the list is creating chaos around international travel into South Africa. David Frost speaks for the organisation and had a chat with Jeremy Maggs.
JOHANNESBURG - The South African Tourism Services Association is calling on the government to discard the list of COVID-19 hotspot countries.
It says the list is creating chaos around international travel into South Africa.
COVID-19: New list of high-risk countries issued
"What we would rather see, and we have engaged some of the top scientists and epidemiologists. This notion of putting certain risk levels to certain countries is totally disingenuous from our point of view," said David Frost from the association.
Last week the government issued a new list of high-risk countries.
The latest high-risk list countries include Germany and Canada.
The US and the UK remain on the list.
