JOHANNESBURG - Trade Minister Ebrahim Patel is has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Presidency says the minister is in good spirits in self-quarantine.
He'll continue to work from home.
Cabinet spokeswoman Phumla Williams said in a statement Patel received his results on Saturday.
"Those that have been in contact with the Minister are also in self-isolation and have been encouraged to get tested," she said.
Patel joins a number of senior South African political officials, including Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi, who have contracted the coronavirus.
