Traffic congested on N3 after trucker protest

HARRISMITH - A blockade on Tuesday on several national routes by drivers unhappy about the employment of foreign nationals as truckers.

A plea went out on Tuesday evening from the Road Freight Association to keep the routes open, so as to not further disrupt vital food supply chains.

In July, the unrest in Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal led to the N3 being closed for a period with shortages in a number of areas.

Earlier this month at the Beitbridge border, trucks waited up to seven days to cross the border due to problems with a new logistics system on the Zimbabwean side.
