Trevor Manuel takes EFF to court

Former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel wants to clear his name.

File: The South Gauteng High Court also ordered the EFF to apologise to Trevor Manuel.


JOHANNESBURG - Former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel has taken court action against the EFF and its spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

It’s over claims newly-appointed SARS commissioner Edward Kieswetter got the position because of his relationship with Manuel.

The former finance minister is refuting the EFF claims as baseless.

He insists that he acted impartially and lawfully and now wants the red berets to be legally compelled to withdraw their statements. 

Manuel was part of a panel that recommended the appointment of Kieswetter.
