Tributes pour in for veteran actor Jamie Bartlett

Former Rhythm City actor Jamie Bartlett. 

JOHANNESBURG - Tributes are pouring in for well-known South African actor Jamie Bartlett who died at the age of 55.

Fellow actors, celebrities and prominent people have spoken fondly of Bartlett.

He was best known for playing the role of David Genaro in Rhythm City and Mike O'Reilly in Isidingo.

He was born to a South African mother and a British father in Maidenhead, England, in 1966.

Bartlett studied speech and drama at the University of Cape Town.

His first major role was in American Ninja 2 before making appearances in both international and local films.

He was awarded a SAFTA and Fleur Du Cap Theatre Award.

He is survived by his wife and a son from a previous marriage.
