“We were prepared for multiple storms, as been reported and we had multiple units out. Fortunately, it's been quiet, we've had accidents but fortunately nothing as catastrophic, as one would expect. We are expecting it to be a bit busy later especially in the early hours of tomorrow (Friday) morning. So we do have units on standby,” said Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson.

Kwazulu-Natal authorities are preparing for the worst as they warn residents to get to places of safety amid severe weather conditions.

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Sipho Hlomuka says heavy rains, mudslides and gale force winds are forecast for the next two days.

Two tornados have already battered KZN since Tuesday.
