HENDRINA - Mpumalanga police say coal miners set trucks alight in protest at not being paid.

They confirm that six trucks and an Eskom bakkie have been burnt.

No arrests have been made.

Truck drivers are threatening to shut down major roads over the weekend.

Transport Minister Blade Nzimande said the issue of truck drivers protesting over the employment of foreign nationals is a labour matter.

He says the labour minister will deal with it.

"We are getting info that there are trucks burning. It's unfortunate they continue to do what they are doing," said Nzimande.
