Mathebe faced a vote of no confidence and she refused to recuse herself.

Da Gama has been suspended for three months, also without pay, for his conduct in the Johannesburg Council meeting of November last year.

Da Gama is accused of abusing his powers when he postponed the meeting to elect a new mayor for Johannesburg.
