UCT confirms death of student after stabbing

File: Residents of the City of Cape Town are the most likely to be victims of crime in the country according to a new report.

File: The University of Cape Town has confirmed that one of its students was stabbed to death in an apparent robbery at Clifton's Third Beach.

CAPE TOWN - The University of Cape Town has confirmed that one of its students was stabbed to death in an apparent robbery at Clifton's Third Beach.

Another student was stabbed in the leg.

Two other students who managed to escape are receiving counselling.

A UCT spokesperson says 19-year-old Cebo Mhleli Mbatha was a first-year humanities student from KwaZulu-Natal.

The incident comes just weeks after the murder of student Uyinene Mrwetyana.
