LONDON - Boris Johnson has admitted to attending a Downing Street party during the country's strict lockdown last year.
The UK prime minister apologised to the house of commons for attending the party, but deflected calls to resign.
The prime minister had stonewalled the issue since an email was leaked last week revealing an invitation to more than 100 staffers for the event.

The event occurred when the government ordered tight restrictions on movement and meetings.
Labour party leader Keir Starmer dismissed the apology as worthless and berated Johnson for what he called months of deception.
Calls have grown for the PM's resignation.
