DURBAN - Amid violent student protests at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, workers are now also demonstrating.

The employees are demanding a 10 percent salary increase and improved safety while students protest.

That's while the students have been up in arms over financial exclusion.

The employees say management has been ignoring their grievances.

The university says it will be meeting with the union's management to discuss the way forward.

In the meantime, the workers' strike is suspended pending the results of the meeting.
