JOHANNESBURG - The unemployment rate remains unchanged in South Africa.
Statistician-General, Risenga Maluleke released the results on Tuesday.
Last year the unemployment rate rose to 29.1-percent, the highest in 11-years.
“The results further indicate that the number of employed persons increased by 45 000 to 16,4-million and the number of unemployed persons decreased by 8,000 to 6,7-million in Q4: 2019 compared to Q3: 2019, resulting in an increase of 38,000 in the labour force,” said Maluleke.
Employment increased in two sectors, with the formal sector recording the largest increase.
Agriculture was the second sector.
