JOHANNESBURG - Trade unions have warned they will fight to the bitter end to prevent retrenchments at SAA.
This after the Labour Court dismissed an urgent application by Numsa and the SA Cabin Crew Association to stop retrenchments at SAA.
The unions now say they will appeal the court's decision.
“We must appeal this decision. 10,000 families will be affected by this decision. This is a battle for survival and we would do anything absolutely possible to save workers jobs,” said Numsa spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola.
SAA says while lay-offs are inevitable, the company has not flouted any labour laws.
The airline says it will ensure that all obligations to staff are met.
