Unisa SRC threatens shutdown

JOHANNESBURG - Registration at several Unisa campuses has been disrupted as part of a call for a total shutdown by students.

The SRC want the Higher Education department to give equal funding to Unisa students.

They have complained about being barred from registration due to historical debt.

Xola Nyirenda from Unisa's SRC said the minister for Higher Education responded to the concerns without applying his mind.

Nyirenda said the SRC are asking for transport allowances as the students who attend the university need assistance to reach venues where they write tests, library services, and tutorial classes.
