JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says there will be no load-shedding required on Sunday.

The power utility say generating units have brought back on stream from maintainance.

Earlier Eskom said there was a high probability of state 2 load-shedding on Sunday.

“An increase in breakdowns at our power stations today has further impacted the availability of sufficient generation capacity. As a result, we have been unable to build up the necessary reserves for the week ahead. We, therefore, regret to announce that up to Stage 2 load-shedding remains a high probability for tomorrow (Sunday, 09 December),” the power utility said in a statement.

Eskom appealed to customers to use electricity sparingly.

It added that there is also a high probability of state 2 load-shedding on Monday.

Meanwhile, the power utility has promised to keep the lights on for the festive season.
