JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says power cuts won't be necessary tonight.

The power utility says the power system is currently stable, despite a constrained national grid.

Earlier, Eskom warned of possible load-shedding.

It said the power system was severely constrained.

The power utility called on consumers to switch off all non-essential appliances.
