JOHANNESBURG - Prison inmates are next in line to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola is expected to launch the vaccination rollout for prison officials and inmates on Tuesday.
While the inoculation of prison officials started on Thursday last week, jabs for prisoners will be administered this week.
They will have access to 90 vaccination sites at correctional centres.
The vaccination drive is intended to prevent outbreaks across facilities that have the potential to spread the virus to communities.
