JOHANNESBURG - Phumzile van Damme has been excluded from the DA's new shadow cabinet.
She was previously head of of the Communications, Telecoms and Postal Services portfolio. She has since been replaced by Zak Mbele.
DA leader, John Steenhuisen, says he has the prerogative to amend his shadow cabinet, in consultation with caucus leaders.
Van Damme said on social media on Saturday that Steenhuisen had told her he was granting her a sabbatical. She had not requested one.
She says that she will be challenging the decision.
