JOHANNESBURG - Taxi drivers in Vereeniging have suspended their strike after meeting with transport officials on Wednesday.
Angry drivers blocked roads with burning tyres and rocks on Friday over the non-completion of a new taxi rank.
They barricaded all entrances during a protest in the CBD.
Police fired rubber bullets and stun grenades at the protestors.
A failed multi-million rand taxi rank project has led to a violent protest.
Taxi operators said government promised them the new taxi rank more than five years ago.
