Violence in SA: Affected businesses urged to claim from insurance

JOHANNESBURG - Businesses affected by the ongoing violence are advised to urgently claim for insurance.

One legal expert says insurance companies normally have a clause giving a limited time to report such cases.

The past few days have seen many retail stores and businesses looted and their property damaged.

They've suffered financial loss as well as the challenge of getting back on their feet again once the dust settles.

"The businesses need to realise that there time-barring clauses in the insurance policies, so they need to act promptly in terms of instituting claims," said Jean-Paul Rudd.
