JOHANNESBURG - Jay-Z and Beyoncé will lead a star-studded lineup at the Global Citizen Festival at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium on Sunday.
The event is to mark 100 years since former president Nelson Mandela's birth by the movement to eradicate poverty.
This year's event aims to raise R15-billion and the promise is that part of it will remain in South Africa.
The queen of pop Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z will be joined by international acts Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams and Usher.
African artists such as D’Banj, Femi Kuti, Tiwa Savage and Wizkid will also grace the stage.
Local acts such as Cassper Nyovest and Sho Madjozi will also perform.
The Motsepe Foundation says at least 2000 children from disadvantaged backgrounds will get to watch their favourite music stars performing live.
Gates will open at 11am and those without tickets have been asked to stay away from the venue.
