JOHANNESBURG – DA's chief whip, Shaun August has resigned in support of outgoing Cape Town mayor, Patricia de Lille.
August resigned as councillor and a DA member.
De Lille delivered her last speech on Thursday.
There is speculation that she might not resign at the end of the month, as previously agreed with the Democratic Alliance.
De Lille has been at loggerheads with her party over claims of nepotism, corruption and a host of other irregularities.
