The IEC adopted a report by former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke, who recommended local government polls be delayed to no later than February 2022.
JOHANNESBURG - The IEC is heading to court to apply for the local government elections to be postponed.
It's adopted a report by former deputy chief justice Dikgang Moseneke, who recommended local government polls be delayed to no later than February next year.
Moseneke found if elections are held in October, they would not be free and fair due to restrictions on campaigning and the threat of losing lives on voting day.
The IEC says it agrees with his report and will now attempt to convince the courts.
