JOHANNESBURG - Justice and Correctional Service Minister Michael Masutha has rejected the parole application of Janusz Walus.

Walus is currently serving a life sentence at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre for the assassination of SACP leader, Chris Hani.

In November 2017 the minister refused Walus' parole citing the fact that he continued to justify "killing a communist".

Walus's legal representatives argued that the Justice Minister ignored parole board recommendations when denying the request for his parole.

The North Gauteng High Court then gave minister Masutha 120 days to decide whether Walus should be placed on parole or not.
