JOHANNESBURG - Simphiwe Moropana, one of the firefighters who died in the deadly blaze in the city centre last week, was being laid to rest on Friday morning.
Moropana fell to his death while trying to combat the fire at the Bank of Lisbon building.
He was 28 years old.
Moropana was one of three firefighters who died in the line of duty on that day.
On Thursday, a memorial service was held for the three men at the Ellis Park Arena.
The South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) has said it will sue government over the fire.
Saftu general secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi said: “How do you send firefighters in a building when you know there are no fire extinguishers? We're going to sue them on behalf of those families and on behalf of those workers.”
