CAPE TOWN – Democratic Alliance council chambers descend into chaos on Thursday morning in the City of Cape Town.
The party's Chief Whip Shaun August resigned as councilor, Chief Whip as well as DA member in a show of support for outgoing mayor Patricia de Lille.
Council members Siya Mamkeli, Suzette Little, Greg Bernado and Thulani Stemela resigned along with August.
They have accused the party of racism.
De Lille says she will be coming for councilors who have tarnished her name.
In her final speech as mayor, she threatened to take legal action against those she accuses of a smear campaign against her.
De Lille is implicated in the Bowman forensic report.
She has been accused of maladministration and interfering in administrative business.
