CAPE TOWN - The National Assembly considers the report of the joint Constitutional Review Committee on changes to section 25 of the Constitution which will allow for land expropriation without compensation.
The committee was tasked to investigate mechanisms through which land can be expropriated without compensation.
After an extensive public participation process, the committee recommended that section 25 of the Constitution be amended.
This, the committee says, was one mechanism to address the injustices of the past.
Last week, AfriForum went to court to stop Parliament’s consideration.
The court application was dismissed.
