JOHANNESBURG – The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa is yet to serve British Airways with a notice to strike.
The union is preparing to go on strike next week over salaries.
Workers are demanding a 12-percent salary increase and a guaranteed 13th cheque.
The union says workers are denied shift and daily overtime allowances.
It has also accused British Airways of being a racist company.
On Tuesday next week, the union will meet with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
Numsa’s spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says the company is denying workers essential benefits.
