PRETORIA - They’re meant to uphold the law but now police officers in Garsfontein, Pretoria are accused of stealing alcohol from a restaurant.
AfriForum has opened a case of theft and corruption against the SAPS.
In January this year, police officers arrested Hennie’s Sports bar manager, Atrayo Nolte, and seized R112,000 worth of alcohol from the premises.
Nolte was accused of selling the drinks during the ban on booze sales.
The confiscated alcohol was kept at Garsfontein police station.
Nolte was cleared but says when his booze was returned, much of the stock was missing while some of the stock had been tampered with.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has not responded to requests for comment.
