JOHANNESBURG - Grade 7s and matriculants around the country are preparing to return to school on 1 June.
Matriculant Zama Malibana says he’s looking forward to going back to school, but he's nervous about the time they’ve lost.
“We [are] going to try to close the gap that has opened since March because we need to further our knowledge of subject.
"But I’m not feeling good because it’s been long since schools have been closed,” he said.
Malibana hopes his school is ready to reopen and that all COVID-19 safety and hygiene measures will be implemented and adhered to.
“I think my school is ready to be open and I think of things like masks and sanitisers are being allocated to the school.
"We are going to try with our teachers to close the gap of work the work we didn’t do,” said Malibana.
The education department says the revision of the school calendar and the trimmed curriculum will be sent to schools for planning purposes and will be worked on continuously.
