JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver a keynote address as part of government National Women's Day.

The government is hosting a virtual National Women's Day to pay tribute to the women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956, protesting against the Pass Laws.

This  year's National Women’s Day celebration theme is: “Generation Equality: Realising Women’s Rights for an Equal Future”.

This as gender based violence is rife in the country.
