JOHANNESBURG - Fees Must Fall activist Mcebo Dlamini’s trial has been postponed to April 2019.

The prosecutor said mediation was unsuccessful and that the state was ready to start the trial.

Dlamini is accused of violating a court order, public violence and assaulting a police officer.

A few months ago, the student activist walked from Auckland Park to the Union Buildings.

He was trying to raise awareness about the plight of students arrested at the height of the #FeesMustFall campaign.

Many of them are still awaiting trial.

Dlamini wants the president to intervene and for some sort of amnesty to be granted.

The Justice Minister says government cannot intervene in the matter.
