PRETORIA - The Department of Agriculture briefed the media on the status of the foot and mouth disease outbreak.
The highly contagious foot and mouth disease has been detected in Limpopo's Vhembe province.
As a result, South Africa's foot and mouth-free status was temporarily suspended.
Minister Senzeni Zokwana said restrictions of cloven hoofed animals are still in place.
Vaccination of 10,000 cattle started on 14 January.
Roadblocks have also been put in place to ensure no meat or animals from the quarantined area are able to leave.
