JOHANNESBURG - Water and Sanitation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu says if the country uses water sparingly, there will be no need for water-shedding.

Sisulu, however, said water restrictions will have to be implemented.

She was briefing the media on the status of the country's dam levels.

“I do acknowledge that indeed we are facing water scarcity in many parts of the country. I implore you all to use water sparingly.”

Sisulu said high temperatures also impacted the water situation.

“We are faced with high temperatures which then impacts on water demand. I have been advised by experts that the earliest rainfall will be experienced in December.”
