JOHANNESBURG - The ANC in Waterberg has halted all party activities in the Lephalale subregion until further notice.

This follows an ANC meeting that descended into chaos this weekend, leaving dozens injured.

The Limpopo ANC says violence is becoming a culture that's been creeping up during ANC meetings.

"It's a very wrong subculture that is creeping into the organisation. Where a meeting with the ANC is called, there will a brigade mobilised because some members feel they will not be elected," said ANC Limpopo secretary, Soviet Lekganyane.

"They will rather let the party hurt and the meeting not continue and everyone suffers that to allow a meeting to proceed.

"It's very bad people have a sense of entitlement within the organisation. "
