SOWETO - Protests have spread countrywide as another community in Johannesburg is planning a shutdown over service delivery and title deeds.
Residents of Pennyville in Soweto are expected to march to the office of the premier on Friday to raise their concerns.
Their shutdown comes a week after Alexandra residents brought the township to a halt and a day after protests in Tshwane.
There has also been a wave of protests in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Emfuleni and Cape Town over service delivery and housing.
The protest in Pennyville started around 2 am on Friday morning as residents call for the end to evictions and demand ownership of properties which they have been occupying for nearly a decade.
In Western Cape, there's been clashes between police and a group trying to occupy land.
There were fresh protests in Tshwane and other areas countrywide.
