SAPS investigating officers after viral assault video

CAPE TOWN - The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape is investigating two Worcester police officers after a video showing two men being assaulted surfaced online.

The video circulating on social media shows a police officer beating a man with a sjambok while another officer slaps a second man.

It is believed the incident occurred near an industrial area in Worcester on Monday.

The officers have been identified as SAPS employees attached to a unit in Worcester.

The police van seen in the video belongs to Ceres police station but is currently used by a police unit in Worcester.
