Western Cape town shattered by child's murder

Children saw Delvina Europa disappear into the bushes with a man on Sunday. The woman who found her little body in this ditch on Tuesday was so traumatized she was sent to Cape Town for counselling. 

ELIM - A family from Elim in the Western Cape is reeling following the rape and murder of six-year-old Delvina Europa.

The Europa family is grieving the death of the little girl's mother, who passed away three months ago.

Delvina would have returned to school next week.

Instead, her lifeless body had been found behind a building after the 500-strong community had searched for her day and night.

A 35-year-old man who lives a block away from the Europas has been charged with her rape and murder.

He has since appeared in the Bredasdorp magistrate's court and has been remanded in custody until his bail application on 8 April.
