Western Cape COVID-19 infections to peak by July: Winde

JOHANNESBURG - The Western Cape expects to hit its COVID-19 peak in July.

The province is the country's epicentre with over 2,342 confirmed cases and 42 deaths.

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde says a temporary hospital is being set up to accommodate high volumes of infected patients.

"Our modelling shows that in July we are going to hit our peak," Winde said.

"We going to hit about 80,000 cases in one week and that is modelling on what this virus has done in other countries around the world."
