The Durban metro police are urging people to stay away from Umhlanga Main beach.
DURBAN - A humpback whale that had washed up on shore at Umhlanga Beach on Sunday has been dissected and removed.
According to Durban Metro spokesperson Parbhoo Sewpersadh, various role-players including the metro police search and rescue and the parks department refuse removal, worked together to dissect the whale.
"There are still a couple of pieces still left on the beach, once removed there will be landscaping to return the beach back to normal", said Sewpersadh.
The Umhlanga main beach will remain closed until further notice.
