JOHANNESBURG - EFF leader Julius Malema has spoken out against what he called an attack on children.

Malema placed the blame for the student protests at the door of the ANC.

A 35-year-old man was killed during student protests on Wednesday.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating the death.

Wits University has extended condolences to the family of the man.

Students are disgruntled over the alleged financial exclusion of some students by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

Meanwhile, the government says there is a shortfall in NSFAS.

The Higher Education Department spokesperson says the matter is before Cabinet, and an answer is expected on Thursday.
